Fast product changeovers – even with large PCBs
SIPLACE machines can place support pins automatically. This saves a lot of time and cuts down on manual assists during product changeovers. Adding this feature usually pays for itself very quickly.
To prevent bending and vibrations, PCBs must be reliably supported during the assembly process. SIPLACE Smart Pin Support provides a faster and much more reliable way to do this than manual methods, and it can be easily retrofitted.
Your benefits:
Depending on the production profile, SIPLACE Smart Pin Support often pays for itself after just two months, and that does not even include the savings gained from avoiding waste.

Top placement quality – even in cases of misalignments and geometric deviations
The SIPLACE vision system inspects each component individually and in minute detail. Only parts that are flawless make it to the PCB, and the machine automatically compensates for any offsets.
With its high-resolution cameras and component-specific lighting, the SIPLACE vision system takes high-contrast images of all components and checks them individually for their correct geometry and position on the nozzle. Faulty components are reliably discarded, and offsets are automatically corrected. Powerful image processing hardware and software make sure that your production performance is not compromised.
Thanks to the precise inspection of each component, you achieve top quality even with highly complex products.
High-level yields – even when tapes run out
SIPLACE placement machines use a laser to inspect each component – before and after each pickup, and before and after each placement. The quality of supplies may vary, but your products remain unaffected.
Integrated into the placement head on SIPLACE machines, the component sensor always puts you on the safe side. It uses a laser beam to check whether each component has been picked up and placed correctly. It also recognizes instantly when a component is missing – for example, due to an empty tape pocket or because it has fallen off the nozzle. This prevents costly faults downstream and expensive scrap.
The integrated component sensor is a crucial quality assurance element that ensures a consistently high level of placement results.
Reliable processing – even of uneven PCBs
Micrometers matter when it comes to placement quality. By automatically compensating for deviations from standard PCB and component parameters, the SIPLACE platforms ensures top quality at all times.
SIPLACE placement machines use laser sensors and photoelectric barriers to determine PCB warping and components heights during the placement process. They store the resulting PCB profile for the ongoing production run and thus compensate for any offsets during the next placement process. The automatic detection of component heights and warped PCBs compensates for quality fluctuations without manual intervention.
SIPLACE placement machines deliver optimum placement quality for each PCB with consistently high throughput.
Maximum yield – even with very densely populated PCBs
Particularly in fine-pitch applications, the machine must take pickup offsets into account and make necessary adjustments. SIPLACE’s closed-loop architecture reduces discards and guarantees consistently high pickup rates.
Component pickups always have some tolerances, which can lead to offsets on the nozzle, especially with tightly populated PCBs. The SIPLACE platform’s closed-loop architecture prevents unnecessary discards and improves the placement quality.
SIPLACE placement machines recognize offsets precisely and correct them by adjusting the XY positions and angles via the nozzles’ rotary drives. They determine the exact center point of the component and the nozzle in order to make the necessary corrections for subsequent components.
With the closed-loop pickup architecture, you are well equipped for even the most complex and highly integrated products.
Reliable pickups – even when component pitches vary
Depending on the manufacturer or product batch, even the same type of component often comes with different tape pitches. SIPLACE placement machines determine the pitch values for 8-mm feeders automatically.
Taking a systematic approach, the machine software starts by setting the index with the smallest possible pitch detection before instructing the machine to pick up the first component. If the pickup is successful, it keeps the pitch setting. If not, it increases it in stages until the appropriate value has been found.
Once the automatic pitch detection has been activated in SIPLACE Pro, the machine automatically adapts to the respective pitches even after tape changes – a major contribution to component flexibility.
