Component pick-ups are always associated with certain tolerances. In most cases, the component is picked up by the nozzle with a slight offset. This leads to higher reject rates when the offset is out of tolerance. Particularly in fine-pitch applications, it is important to take pick-up offset into account and to compensate for it in order to ensure maximum pick-up reliability and thus optimum placement quality.
With automatic closed-loop pickup correction, SIPLACE placement machines detect the offset precisely and react accordingly:
• Correction of the X-Y offset by adjusting the positioning parameters • Correction of the angular offset using rotary drives on every nozzle
To do this, the machine precisely determines the center point of the component and nozzle and calculates the correction data from this. This data is also used when picking up the next component.
