Enjoy all the benefits of panelization without any of the limitations with DEK MASS Tooling System that enables high speed optical alignment and simultaneous printing of multiple boards.
The issue with panelization
PCB panelization is a well-established approach that has enabled electronics manufacturers to process multiple boards simultaneously, leading to reduced production time and costs. However, with the recent trends in miniaturization, substrates now have smaller and more closely spaced features which increases the number of “defect panels”. One work around has been, to test the substrates using a flying probe followed by depanelization in order to only retain the “good panels”.
Once depanelized (or singulated), the boards must be transported within a carrier so that they can still be processed simultaneously. However, this can lead to poor alignment of the print deposits relative to the pads as typically the substrates cannot be individually optically aligned to the stencil.
Our Solution
The DEK Multiple Alignment of Singulated Substrates (MASS) Tooling System optically aligns several substrates simultaneously, with extreme precision and speed. “Local fiducials” are read for each substrate and alignment to the stencil is performed individually. The MASS Tooling System can be retrofitted on DEK NeoHorizon printers to enable simultaneous printing of multiple boards without any compromise on print quality or throughput!
Now, it is a small change for a great improvement - you don’t need a new machine, for better printing quality.
